Soma is often called missional, gospel-centered, an Acts 29 church or a church-planting movement and while that's all true, we usually just say we're all about Jesus. Because of who Jesus is and what he did (the gospel), Soma Communities is a family on Jesus' mission of making disciples, sent by God to serve our world, continually learning how to walk in his ways—that's our gospel identity, and it's worked out by God's grace in the everyday rhythms of life in communities spread throughout the Western US.

Soma Communities began as a few missional communities in Tacoma, WA seeking to live out their gospel identity in the everyday. By God's grace, we're approaching 100 MCs in seven Expressions in the region.

Portland Region
Bread & Wine was planted with Soma Communities as its model, and now is formally becoming part of our family. Cultural similarities and proximity mean the Portland and Seattle/Tacoma families get to learn a lot from each other.

Trademark in Boise was the first church outside the Puget Sound region to join the Soma Communities family. We've been learning what it means to be family despite the distance while working hard to serve the city of Boise as a witness to the gospel.

In process: A few churches in SF have invited Soma leaders to train them in leading gospel-centered communities on mission and we're praying we get to partner even more to see the bay area saturated with the gospel.

Two churches in LA are becoming Expressions of Soma Communities and are beginning to work together as the church in this very large city.

San Diego Region
Red Door is a family striving to respond to the gospel by living sent lives to the people of College Area. They planted out of Kaleo Church in Fall of 2010 and participated in much of the training that Soma Communities has led in the San Diego region over the years. In December 2011, Red Door officially joined Soma Communities and are eager to partner in this movement.

Presently two Phoenix area churches are becoming Soma Communities: Missio Dei and Church of the Cross. A third church, Praxis, has recently merged with East Valley Bible Church to form Redemption Church together. They will be strategically partnering with us though not formally as Soma Communities.

In process: Despite Soma's current focus on the west, ReaLife Philly has put into practice what the Spirit taught them through us and are pressing in to join us as Family.

In process: God has led us to pray for Vancouver, BC, and be ready to partner in the work he is doing there as Jesus builds his church. We've had several opportunities to train church planters in Vancouver.
