Soma Communities hosts 7 day intensive studies where participants work and pray with the community, study the biblical and theological foundations of Soma Communities, and reflect on the incarnational responses to the particular needs of its community, location and make-up.
This experience is for those individuals that desire a deep understanding of the Gospel Identity and Rhythms in which we live. This intensive begins on a Tuesday and runs for 7 days. During this time you will live within our community, staying with members of our family, living out the rhythms of those you stay with. You will spend time in both urban and suburban settings.
All of this is a perfect experience for those interested in planting churches that are communities who embody the gospel.
To make the experience the most worthwhile, for you and for us, we strongly recommend you read both of these books before Soma School: Total Church and The Prodigal God.
Some of what you will learn and experience while you are with us...
The Story of God You will begin to see the Bible and the redemptive, restorative work of God in a whole new way. You will also learn how to communicate and teach in new, dialogical methods.
Identity & Rhythms What is the Church? How should we live? Soma Communities is formed around the identities of Jesus and the rhythms in which he and his followers lived. We will dig deep into these realities.
Building a Missional Community We will discuss how Soma has begun to live in communities of people who are united around a common, local mission. Also, how these communities are local expressions of Jesus and his church in the world, living out the Gospel in all ways.
Gatherings You will gather with the Soma family in smaller missional communities, larger gatherings and spend time just "being" with us in community.
Sacred Space Bringing beauty and restoration to our community is one of the ways we display and experience the Gospel. Together, we will spend a day restoring a public space in or around Tacoma.

Registration
Since we're not putting on a conference, but opening up our lives to share what we're learning, we only run Soma School when at least 10 people register. So if you're interested, register online (2010 registration will open later this year when the dates are finalized). Registration includes a $100 deposit (or you can bless us with the full amount up front.)
We'll let you know as soon as we're over 10 people, and then you can buy your plane tickets. If we don't hit 10, we’ll either refund you or keep the coin for the next Soma School, your choice. However, we've never yet canceled Soma School, and we cap it at 20 people, so get registered soon.

Cost $300 per person. If you bring a spouse, add only $100 more.

Since we're arranging for families for you to live with, rides to/from the airport, etc. we have to close registration by these deadlines.
